What we think of the Potterton Promax SL

This range of five boilers covers five different heat outputs: 12kW, 15kW, 18kW, 24kW and 30kW. They are ideal for a flat, right up to a reasonably sized house. They are heat only, or open vent boilers, which means that they are based on more traditional systems which use a cold water cistern and an expansion tank. They are not like Combi boilers which supply hot water on demand. The heat only system does take up more space, but because it sends hot water to a storage tank, it does mean that there is a large amount of hot water which is useful for an ensuite, or a second bathroom.

Even though these boilers are powerful and can cope with most situations, they weigh just 26kg, which is very slim and one of the best compared with other manufacturers. These boilers are also designed to be wall mounted. Controls are basic and there is a small window so that you can reassure yourself that the pilot light is still on.

Getting a Competitive Boiler Quote

A new boiler is a considerable investment, so comparing prices is highly advisable before you part with your cash. A good place to start is by getting a quote from a well-known national installer and also getting a few from local boiler installers. Comparing them will help you make an informed decision.

Also remember only a Gas Safe Registered engineer can carry out a new boiler installation safely and properly. It is vital that you check the credentials of your engineer before you agree anything.
