Potterton Ultra System

The Potterton Ultra System is a compact and lightweight gas condensing boiler that is designed to suit properties of all sizes.

Potterton’s Ultra System is highly efficient and fully modulating, so it could be the perfect boiler if you’re looking to cut the cost on your annual fuel bills. You may even be able to save some cash on installation because this boiler can be fitted with ease and placed just about anywhere in the home. It does, however, require a separate cylinder for storing hot water but it doesn’t need any additional tanks in the loft.

How Much Does this Boiler Cost?

As prices vary from around £910 to £1,500 according to the heat output, the amount you’ll need to pay will depend on whether you require the 12kW, 15kW, 18kW, 24kW or 28kW model. Not only will you need to spend cash on the boiler buy you’ll also have to pay the fitting cost which can vary depending on how much work is required. We recommend you shop around so that you can compare prices and, hopefully, save a bit of money on both the Ultra System boiler and installation.

How will I know if this Boiler is Suitable for My Home?

The Potterton Ultra System is what’s called a ‘system’ boiler, so it needs a hot water storage cylinder (usually found in an airing cupboard). System boilers are ideal for homes with more than one bathroom because they can supply hot water to all taps, showers and baths, even if they happen to all be running at the same time. Unlike heat only boilers, system boilers don’t require any separate tanks in the loft, making them a sensible choice for properties without any loft space.

It’s important that you choose the right size (kW output) of boiler, so we suggest you always consult a Gas Safe registered engineer. Not only will a qualified heating engineer be able to give you advice on the correct boiler size for your home but they’ll also be able to tell you if the Ultra System will suit your household needs.

Is it a High Efficiency Boiler?

Yes, it’s an A-rated boiler for energy efficiency and Energy Saving Trust endorsed, so there’s no reason why it shouldn’t save you money on your fuel bills when you replace an old boiler with the Ultra System. Don’t forget, this is a fully modulating boiler, meaning it will automatically reduce its output when less heat is required to ensure you don’t waste energy. The boiler is compatible with the Multifit GasSaver heat recovery system that can reduce the amount of gas you use to heat hot water by up to 37%. What’s more, it can be used with a Megaflow Eco Cylinder for greater fuel savings.

Does this Boiler have a Good Range of Controls and Features?

The user controls are situated at the front of the boiler and concealed behind a panel, making the Ultra System a great solution for families with small children. Controls include a reset switch, a system pressure gauge and an adjustable hot water temperature control. You can purchase an optional Potterton EP2 Programmer that switches the central heating and hot water on and off at set times. When it comes to features, the boiler has robust hydraulic connections to guarantee quality and reliability. It also comes complete with a pre-plumbing jig for ease of installation and flue lengths up to 20 metres to allow for versatile siting.

How long is the Warranty on this Boiler?

If you decide to purchase the Potterton Ultra System, you’ll receive a 2-year parts and labour warranty as standard. To keep the warranty valid, you must register the boiler within 30 days of installation and have it serviced annually.
